Seasoned Creative, Emerging Artist

Kerry's transition to a full-time visual artist has been a turning point in not just her work life, but in her view of life in general - she describes the transition as 'a whole new view of the world.' 'I see things so much more clearly, more vividly now and I push these observations by depicting them as I'd like them to be', says Kerry.

A senior creative with 25 years' experience in design and advertising, Kerry has a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe University, and a Certificate III in Visual Arts from the Northern College of the Arts and Technology. Her experience as a designer and creative director gives her the drive to continually produce bodies of work which extend her as an artist.

Influenced heavily by strong design principles, her work is as diverse as it is dynamic; Kerry's style is experimental and always evolving, yet has an underlying delicacy that reflects her ability to look past the surface of a situation or scene and to capture the essence of a fleeting moment.

Based in Bendigo, in regional Victoria, Kerry is inspired by the natural environment, often using colours based on the local landscape in her interior studies and other works more broadly. In her photography and printmaking, the artist focuses on the finer details, on '...looking closer to reveal layers of hidden beauty in unexpected ways.'

Kerry regularly exhibits in Melbourne and regional Victoria, and works both from her studio space at the Bendigo Pottery and from her home studio overlooking an inspired native bush garden.

RESIDENCIES

Artist-in-Residence

BENDIGO POTTERY

Artist-in-Residence (Ongoing tenancy)
November 2019 - present

I have a wonderful work/gallery space at the historic Bendigo Pottery complex, 15 minutes north of the Bendigo CBD. Sally and Rod are wonderful 'landlords' and supporters of the arts.

There are beautiful rose gardens, other artists and makers, and of course, the Pottery - a thriving business and wonderful tourist attraction. Pop out if you can.

If you're coming out to see me, get in touch first and make an appointment. I'd love to meet with you.

FALLS CREEK RESORT

Falls Creek Resort Management Artist-in-Residence Program

(Upcoming) January 2022

Following on from an absolutely amazing initial 'reconnaissance mission' in February this year, I, together with four fellow artists, will return to Falls Creek to develop new works, hold an exhibition and run a workshop or two... We're still planning our exciting next steps but hope to be able to update you all really soon.

This project made possible with the support of the incredible team at Falls Creek Resort Management. Thanks, Elise and team!
